Expanding the Circle

In the warmth and comfort of a waking dream, I saw a vision of myself, blessing all I have previously judged and held as separate from the sacred.

I'll offer a little background, so it is easier to understand the images in the vision. I had heard a folk song by Elaine Silver in which she chanted the names of the Goddesses - Isis, Astarte, Diana, Hecate, Demeter, Calley, and Inanna.

The chant stayed with me, repeating itself in the back of my mind at intervals, for several days. In the song, Elaine sings of the witches, the wise women of the earth, who died as a result of the Inquisition. When I hear a song repeated in my head, I consider it a signal to pay attention to the message. Something important is calling me.

This song really impressed me when I first heard it. I don't objectively know how much of the story is true as she tells it. It really doesn't matter. I had thrill bumps every time I heard it. I played it over and over, until the melody of the chant and the names of the goddesses were imprinted in my mind. The song provided me with a powerful lesson in nonjudgment.

Then I the vision began. I saw the circle of witches, like the one described at the beginning of the song, chanting lovingly the names of the Goddesses. They were consciously sending love to the earth. I could feel them in tune with its rhythms. Their hearts, minds, cells, and the earth were connected, in a ritual of power, grace, and healing.

Then, I saw my beautiful circle of entuned women holding hands and chanting praises. The song continues as these women chose to walk into the sea to drown together rather than face the judges. Elaine sang they were literally dying to be free.

Feeling sad and wanting to cry at my vision, I remembered a powerful process taught by one of my teachers, Gregg Braden. He said, "Release judgment, bless the victims, bless the aggressors, and also bless all the witnesses." The following visions continued.

Releasing judgment about the women who died,

I saw the original circle of women turn into a wreath of living flowers.

I threw it in the sea.

I looked back at the circle, saw them returned, restored, reborn.

Releasing judgment of those who judged in the Inquisition,

I saw the circle again turn into a wreath of living flowers.

I placed it in Rome.

I looked back at the circle, saw them returned, restored, reborn, expanded.

I thought of other things I judged as separate from God.

Death.

Every funeral service I have ever been to.

I sent the wreath of living flowers to every church, cemetery, funeral home.

I saw the circle, restored, expanded, beings of light - Gods and Goddesses.

I thought of other things I judged as separate from God,

War.

Every battle I could think of.

I placed a wreath of living flowers.

As I felt diminished in any way,

I turned back to the circle, I saw it restored, expanded, filled with light.

I was welcomed into the center of the circle,

Restored myself, expanded, blessed in my being.

I went out again to look for things I judged as separate from the sacred.

Poverty, injustice.

Disease, illness.

I placed a wreath of living flowers.

As I felt diminished in any way,

I turned back to the circle, I saw it restored, expanded, filled with light.

I was welcomed into the center of the circle,

Restored myself, expanded, blessed in my being.

Again I looked for things I judged as separate from God.

Violence, abuse.

Pollution, mining, tree cutting and burning.

Sunspots, ETs, solar radiation, ozone layer holes, Star Wars.

Myself, scarred by life, angry, afraid, fat, aging.

I placed a wreath of living flowers.

As I felt diminished in any way,

I turned back to the circle, I saw it restored, expanded, filled with light.

I was welcomed into the center of the circle,

Restored myself, expanded, blessed in my being.

Feel the circle expanding, ever expanding,

The beings of light turning into bands of light.

Blessing myself, blessing the people, blessing the animals,

Blessing the plants and the trees, blessing the sea, blessing the land, blessing the planet.

A rainbow of light formed all around,

Circling my being,

Circling my home,

Circling my country,

Circling the earth.

The love, the blessing, the heavenly release kept expanding ever outward.

The vision ended there. I am blessed to be a witness to the beauty of the process of choosing to include love rather than judgment.
