In May of 2007, I commissioned the amazing young poet/folk singer/songwriter, Erik Balkey, to write a song inspired by my vision called Exploring the Stillness, which I have yet to publish in a book.  Here is a link to that vision if you would like to read what Erik used as the basis of this song.  Note that in the vision, I created a room to “live in” that Erik designed the song around.  I particularly love the feeling of joy in this song and feel Erik really captured many of the local implications this vision offers.  I hope you like it.

I keep house, it needs tending / from all the things that I collect
It's the power of intention / it's a job I can't neglect
I keep flowers for my passion / clean the dust from the windowsill
I've got tools and I've got vision / my space is mine to fill
And, I will...

I decorate my living room
(Gonna dress it up) that's my flowers and my chair
(And I'll tell you what) I arrange my living room
(Full of stuff) that I put there
(It's full of love) that's what I put there

I explore the stillness / in the quiet at night
It's the book of Genesis says / from the darkness comes the light
It's a deep place of silence / mystery from wall to wall
I relax and I don't fight it / find the wonder of it all
Big and small...

I decorate my living room
(Gonna dress it up) that's my flowers and my chair
(And I'll tell you what) I arrange my living room
(Full of stuff) that I put there
(It's full of love) that's what I put there

There's many things I can imagine / all created for the good
There's love and there's compassion / in my chosen neighborhood
Many things that I can't know from / what I see from my front porch
Of all the things that I know that I want / knowing God is what I live for
What I live for...

I decorate my living room
(Gonna dress it up) that's my flowers and my chair
(And I'll tell you what) I arrange my living room
(Full of stuff) that I put there
(It's full of love) that's what I put there
